3 Bestselling Books to Relax Your Mind and Improve your Life!

The holiday period and new year are right upon us. And there’s no doubt this is a great time of year to take a step back and allow ourselves to unwind and make any kind of adjustments if need be (and really this applies to any vacation and/or transition period).

I chose 3 bestselling books, having in mind to prep you during the holidays so you feel renewed and ready to take on the challenges that will come your way once the new year starts. Ready for a fresh start!

The first thing you need to do is relax and get some entertainment. This is where the first book comes in, Origin.

Next, I feel it’s worth using a bit of the free time you can find to pay attention to your inner peace. A Complaint Free World may surprise you, and will help you address this part.

To finish off, who doesn’t want to gain a few hours a week? Don’t we all have hobbies, personal projects or family activities we wished we had more time to spend on? At a minimum, that’s what you can gain from reading the book called The 4-Hour Workweek. But as you’ll see, this book is actually about much more than that if you open your mind to it!

A BOOK TO RELAX AND GET ENTERTAINED

This is the part where you relax and just enjoy the ride. And what a ride it is. For me, Dan Brown is one of the best pageturner writers there is. His plots are really imaginative and wisely written.

I don’t read fiction books very often, because I have a ton of other subjects I want to read about. Yet, this time again, I was amazed at how Dan Brown succeeded in keeping me wondering what was going to happen next.

The story takes place mostly in Madrid and Barcelona. Which, if you’ve had a chance to visit, are pleasant sights to picture the characters. And as usual, Brown mixes in a bit of history, culture and religion, adding the element of learning which I do appreciate even in fiction stories.

This time around, Brown opposes science and religion, and even adds some AI (artificial intelligence) in the mix. Making his book very relevant with today’s world.

The perfect book to relax, unwind and clear your mind!

A BOOK TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER

A Complaint Free World – How to Stop Complaining and Start Enjoying the Life You Always Wanted, International bestseller book from Will Bowen

Ever noticed how your mood gets affected when people around you complain? And the same is true when you complain, you affect your own mood.

Sometimes my day will start off on the wrong foot — I blame it on the lack of sleep, or on the weather. I just feel like bitching about it. Only to understand after a bit that I’m actually making my day worst for no reason.

A Complaint Free World teaches us about:

  • What constitutes a complaint
  • The impacts it can have on our lives
  • To become aware of how often, in a day, a week, we complain
  • Challenges us to go for a full consecutive 21 days without a single complaint.

Think that’s easy? I hate to admit it, but I haven’t succeeded yet …

Funny thing is, when I started reading this book, my first thought was that this 21-day challenge should be pretty easy since I don’t complain too much. But as you read through, you discover that complaint includes a whole lot of the small, negative things we can talk about on a typical day. Especially at work, where there are numerous temptations to criticize and express our opinions about things and people we disagree with.

You’ll see. The book is a great eye opener to how often you complain. And if you do the exercise, you’ll be surprised, believe me. As Will Bowen makes us realize, who wants to be surrounded by people who are negative?

Be ready to challenge your preconceived thoughts!

Tim Ferriss proposes ways in which we can dramatically cut on the number of hours we work, so that we can achieve other things in our lives. Stuff that matters to us and will better contribute to our happiness.

In short, he wants to us to go after our dreams. And hey, maybe even make more money while we’re at it!

He talks to the possible entrepreneur in you and to the office employee. No matter where you fit in there, certain sections of the book may have you think, “This is way over the top for me“. That was certainly my case. Like “What planet is this guy on?”. Yet I found these sections entertaining.

But, the book also delivers practical advice. So if you pick and choose from the table of contents the subjects that better fit your reality and goals, you’ll find very interesting ideas, links to some tools and websites, and tips you can easily implement.
